PQHQG Retreats – A Perspective.
Retreats started many years
ago; guild members went away to quilt, sew and learn
– a weekend of quilting. Over time the format
changed because people preferred to sleep in their own
beds and not have travel and accommodation expenses.
Some details changed but the premise was the same: going
away with like-minded and gifted people was an incredible
experience.
Quilters are remarkable women – they come together with
different ideas, values, styles, backgrounds and beliefs
– what emerges are long lasting friends! We are
blessed to have a circle of woman we call friends and
to be able to meet with them throughout the year. This
tradition continues.
New and experienced members are encouraged to attend;
you enjoy tremendous camaraderie and fun. Because
guild meetings are busy with a large membership; it’s
a challenge to connect with others. That’s why
retreats are planned, to help new and experienced quilts
make friends. Two different retreats are held during
the year. These ‘at home’ events are usually
two days long and are located at the Bradley Centre
during the day:
Program Policies:
- Class fees are payable upon registration.
- There are no refunds for cancellations. You may
however, send someone in your place. Check to see if
there is a waiting list. Money will be refunded if the
class is cancelled due to lack of registrants.
- Generally classes on guild days or evenings (Mondays)
are given for a small fee of $2.00 from each participant.
If there are three demos, the small fee to be paid is
$2.00 for all three. This small fee helps offset the
cost of the handouts etc. However, if there is a special
teacher that costs more money an increased amount for
the class may be charged.
- Please register for demos and classes the month
before so that we may have enough handouts for all who
wish to participate.
- There is no charge for special speakers who we bring
in to benefit the whole guild.
- Special workshop days in October and February have
pre-announced rates for half-day or full-day classes.
