In keeping with the Guild's purpose to promote and encourage education in the craft of quilting, we move that, when it is financially viable, the Society may issue two (2) scholarships annually, not to exceed $750.00 each.
The Criteria for receiving a scholarship will be:
a) The scholarship is to fund post-secondary education at an accredited institution. The students must provide their Social Insurance Number and proof of attendance at the post-secondary institution before receiving funds. The scholarship will be denied if post-secondary education is not commenced within 27 months of the date of award.
b) The recipient will have either graduated from a school in central Vancouver Island (SD#68 Nanaimo, 69 Qualicum, #70 Alberni or #71 Comox Valley); or is a member, child or grandchild of a member in good standing of the Society.
c) Preference for awarding the scholarships will be given to:
- Students pursuing a degree in textile arts, fashion design, or graphic design.
- Students who have successfully completed a course of study in textiles or fashion design at secondary school.
- Students who have demonstrated a strong interest/personal portfolio in quilting, quilting history, or textile arts.
- Students who are or will be attending post-secondary education in Canada.
The criteria will be reviewed annually by the Scholarship Committee.
